SCL Health Turns to SailPoint and S3 Consulting to Modernize Identity Security

Operating primarily within Colorado and Montana, SCL Health is a faith-based, nonprofit healthcare organization that is relentlessly focused on delivering safe, high-quality, and effective care to every patient. The $2.8 billion health network provides comprehensive care and services throughout 8 hospitals and more than 150 physician clinics.

Identity security is critical in an industry as heavily regulated as healthcare, and the team at SCL Health is full steam ahead on their identity modernization journey. “Identity is a foundational element of everything we do,” says Craig Richardville, Chief Information & Digital Officer at SCL Health. For years, SCL Health relied upon a homegrown identity management system. With a growing employee network, evolving regulatory mandates, and more detailed application access levels required, it was clear that this system could no longer keep up.

In partnership with and implemented by S3 consulting, SailPoint provided SCL Health with the control they needed to manage user access, automate manual processes, and protect sensitive data. This resulted in a savings of nearly $800,000 annually for SCL Health. “That’s been a big win. Moving from a customized application to SailPoint was the transition that caused those savings to occur. It’s actually a godsend when you look at the current labor market,” says Richardville. “Now we have a predictable cost for the service versus unpredictable labor costs, and we can manage identity as it should be managed,” he adds.
