SYDNEY, March 21, 2017 – SailPoint, the leader in identity management, today announced the launch of iD Live, a new community event intended to bring leading identity professionals together to discuss challenges in identity governance and the importance of putting identity at the heart of IT security strategies. The first iD Live event is being held in Sydney, Australia on March 23, 2017 and includes a keynote session lead by SailPoint President and co-founder Kevin Cunningham, and Atul Sood, General Manager Architecture for TAL.

“Having a clear understanding of identities and the access they have to critical systems, applications and data is both incredibly important and increasingly challenging for businesses like ours,” said Atul Sood, General Manager Architecture for TAL. “As Australia’s leading life insurer, the security of our customers’ information and data is of utmost importance. With our own identity governance journey, we have full visibility into who has access to what, and how they are using that access, ensuring that our business and customer data is secure and shifting into a much more proactive compliance stance, as well. This has freed us up to focus on our ambition as a company – protecting the lives of millions of Australians across the country.”

Identity governance is even more critical to businesses in Australia today given the recent passing of the Privacy Amendment (Notifiable Data Breaches) Bill 2016 by the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (OAIC) which establishes a mandatory data breach notification scheme in Australia. The amendment requires government agencies and enterprises to notify individuals affected by a data breach, improving transparency in the way that the public and private sectors respond to serious data breaches. This bill not only helps to protect the privacy of Australians across the country but also underscores the need to better shore up IT security defenses for Australian business and government entities, going forward.

“Emerging technologies like mobile and cloud have dissolved the network perimeter. As a result, businesses have quickly realised that their cybersecurity strategy needs an overhaul, and this problem is a truly global one today,” said Kevin Cunningham, President and Co-Founder of SailPoint. “More often than not, identity is the only thing linking the extended enterprise together which is why a user-centric approach to enterprise security that puts identity at the centre, is so crucial today. With identity in focus, Australian enterprises can move their businesses forward confidently with the assurance that the identities of their employees and customers are secure.”
