Happy International Women’s Month

On March 8, SailPoint celebrated International Women’s Day.  This day of reflection, education and action brings the SailPoint Crew together annually to surface conversations that carry us forward year-round.  As I reflect back on the conversations we had across SAIL, supporting women isn’t just a celebration or a one-day event – it’s a call to action, both personally and professionally.

As I sat down to write this, fresh with inspiration from the conversations over the course of Women’s History Month and Black History Month, I wanted to bring focus to the theme for this year’s International Women’s Day: Choose to Challenge, a powerful concept that rapidly caught on across the organization.

Every day, we can all choose to challenge anything that blocks progress, equity and inclusivity. As a mother, daughter, friend, employer and mentor – that’s a choice I make every day.

When I joined SailPoint nearly 10 years ago, I knew I was making the right move. Being empowered to grow my own career under Mark’s leadership without many of the barriers women sometimes face has helped bring into focus an issue specific to both technology and security. Research from ISC2 found that only a quarter of cybersecurity professionals are women, and the pay gap is sometimes significant.

That research brings me full circle, back to the choices we make at SAIL to deliver on our promise of an inclusive culture, driven by values and measured by data.

While I am confident that we deliver on our commitment to creating opportunity for all, I’m particularly proud of how we support women inside the organization with industry-leading paid family leave, autonomy in work schedules, intentional mentoring, and other flexibility in how we work together.  Our commitment to those who are historically underrepresented in technology is also inherent in our Four I’s culture: we want every person at SAIL to show up as their most authentic self. We celebrate the variety of perspectives that each crew member brings to the table and value each unique identity across the organization.

So this month and beyond, let’s #ChoosetoChallenge, because women are at the center of IT making tech equitable and accessible for all.
