Offering Provides Enterprise-wide View of Identity Risks in Just 30 Days

AUSTIN, Texas, July 22, 2009 – Global organizations are currently facing a high-risk environment for insider threats and potential security breaches, yet most companies have little visibility into which workers have access to the most critical applications and data, according to SailPoint’s April Market Pulse Survey. Today, SailPoint is making it easier for enterprises to proactively identify and address these security vulnerabilities by offering a 30-day Identity Risk Assessment. The assessment, conducted by SailPoint’s Alliance Network partners, provides a consolidated view of user access across target applications and enables organizations to highlight areas of identity risk for increased scrutiny. Until now, the ability to rapidly and accurately assess identity risk has been almost impossible.

In less than 30 days, SailPoint’s new Identity Risk Assessment offering can provide greater visibility into an organization’s identity access data and identify areas of risk across its applications. The offering helps organizations quickly and inexpensively:

  • view enterprise-wide access privileges via detailed, business user-friendly reports;
  • model application risk profiles and prioritize areas of concern;
  • and identify compliance gaps and security threats.

Once the assessment is complete, companies will be able to pinpoint areas of control weaknesses and vulnerabilities – such as orphan and rogue accounts, privileged users, entitlement creep, and separation-of-duty violations – across enterprise applications. With that analysis in hand, companies can take corrective actions, and then re-analyze their identity environment to assess the impact of the changes to their organization’s risk posture.

SailPoint Identity Risk Assessments, along with associated consulting and implementation services, are available through SailPoint Alliance Network partners, including Logic Trends, Mycroft, Partners Consulting, and one of the industry’s largest managed and professional service providers.

“A key weapon for preventing insider threats and internal security breaches is an overarching view of all access privileges – basically who can access what and why,” said Jim Guinn, executive vice president at Partners Consulting. “The companies we work with know they’re at risk, but they don’t have the transparency needed to effectively manage their identity environment. Through an Identity Risk Assessment, companies can quickly identify and address critical vulnerabilities and then immediately begin implementing a broader identity governance strategy with SailPoint IdentityIQ. Most importantly, they will be able to leverage work completed during the 30-day assessment and can scope and prioritize the deployment based on their actual business risk.”
