BMC Customers Have New Options to Complement and Extend IdM and Service Management Investments with SailPoint IdentityIQ

Austin and Houston, January 27, 2011 – SailPoint Technologies and BMC Software today announced that BMC has selected SailPoint as the company’s strategic technology provider for identity management software solutions. Effective immediately, SailPoint’s IdentityIQ™ product line is available through BMC’s worldwide sales force and distribution partners as the identity management component of BMC’s Business Service Management platform. This highly complementary partnership combines the strength of SailPoint’s leading identity management software with the existing capabilities of BMC Identity Management (formerly Control-SA), which is the most highly scalable and reliable provisioning infrastructure supporting the largest customer installations in the world.

BMC customers now have access to next-generation identity management features provided by SailPoint IdentityIQ, which integrates seamlessly with the BMC Identity Management (Control-SA) and Remedy products. Specifically, by means of this partnership, BMC customers will be able to take advantage of the following capabilities:

  • Market-leading identity governance for meeting compliance mandates, managing identity risks across the IT environment, and proactively focusing controls based on risk.
  • Rich “identity intelligence” features, such as dashboards, ad hoc query, and personalized reporting, to give enterprises the business insights needed to strengthen IT controls and reduce operational risk.
  • Business-friendly user interfaces that facilitate line-of-business participation in identity management processes such as access request, access review, approvals, policy enforcement, and IT audits.
  • Next-generation provisioning, which leverages SailPoint’s governance platform to simplify the request and approval of access privileges.
  • Customer friendly migration plan that eliminates the need to “rip and replace” technology.

For BMC’s Business Service Management customers, SailPoint IdentityIQ provides highly complementary identity governance capabilities to BMC’s Remedy self-service, help desk, change management and asset management solutions, aligning identity management processes with other IT services delivered to the business.

“Customers are looking for ways to extend the life of existing provisioning investments while addressing more business-centric identity management requirements,” said Ian Glazer, senior analyst at Gartner. “Provisioning customers can see immediate benefit by adding identity and access governance capabilities to their existing deployments. It sets the stage for more business-driven identity management that better meets today’s visibility and transparency needs.”

For BMC Identity Management customers, the expanded partnership allows them to immediately leverage SailPoint IdentityIQ to address compliance needs and to gain business-friendly access request capabilities, working in tandem with their existing Control-SA investment. Based on the unique integration capabilities provided by SailPoint, customers can gradually take advantage of SailPoint IdentityIQ capabilities, leveraging the strengths of BMC Identity Management infrastructure wherever possible.

“This partnership is a testament to BMC’s commitment to the ongoing success of our customers,” said Rohit Gupta, general manager and vice president, Service Support, at BMC Software. “Today’s identity management challenges are complex and are driven primarily by compliance and governance needs. We see the capabilities offered by SailPoint as critical to the success of BMC’s customers, whether they have deployed Remedy, our other Business Service Management solutions, or identity management solutions such as Control-SA. By partnering with SailPoint, we are offering our customers a next-generation, market-leading identity management solution that is tightly integrated with our own products.”

“We’re excited about opening up a world-wide channel for our products,” said Mark McClain, CEO and cofounder of SailPoint. “IdentityIQ is a natural extension to BMC’s Business Service Management portfolio, and we think this presents a tremendous growth opportunity for the company. In addition, SailPoint is firmly committed to ensuring the success of the BMC Identity Management customer base today and in the future. We have invested significant resources to integrate IdentityIQ with Control-SA and Remedy, enabling our joint customers to complement and extend their investments.”
