Virtualizing an Identity Appliance
These days I spend a lot of time on the road talking to customers, prospects, and business partners. I’m fortunate to spend time with some of the smartest people in the industry and hear about the kinds of projects that are still being funded in troubled times. Of all of things I hear, one theme rings out loud and clear – and that’s « rapid time to value. »
Today’s identity management challenges can’t wait on a two-year deployment. People need accountability, transparency and control. And they need it yesterday … Rapid deployment and fast application value are no longer nice-to-haves, they’re a price of entry. That’s especially true for identity governance projects.
One of the design goals of SailPoint’s IdentityIQ has always been rapid time to value. Our engineering team is continually pushing innovation in this area, and a few weeks ago we announced a new set of deployment, support and hosting options that help take this to the next level. We now offer a fully hosted identity governance solution (you can’t get more rapid deployment that no deployment at all, right?) and a suite of managed services offerings, which remove the maintenance and operations burden from internal IT staff.
We also introduced the industry’s first full virtual appliance offering for identity governance, which I’m especially excited to discuss. Virtualization is the future of IT operations. The virtual appliance dramatically simplifies on-premise deployments for companies without the burden of hardware management. There are huge benefits to this approach that touch on runtime performance, reliability and runtime administration, as well reducing the complexity and cost of the ongoing software life-cycle management process. By employing the latest and greatest virtualization techniques, we can radically decrease deployment times while at the same improving the overall longer-term manageability, security and operational efficiency for the total end-to-end solution offering.
What do you think? Are you considering going virtual with Identity?
