Facing the Tech-Powered, Human-Driven Business with Identity

The worldwide labor force is around three billion people. In the US alone we have 160 million people working – and many of them work at companies we interact with daily to keep our lives going.

Those millions of people in businesses of all sizes are accessing apps and data to do their jobs. This acceleration of tech-powered, human-driven business has led to an interesting dilemma as businesses compete on a global scale. That dilemma is identity. How do we manage who has access to what while keeping pace with technology?

For over a decade, SailPoint has set each new wave of identity in motion – finding new and better ways to do identity.

But we are seeing a turning point happening in the business now, and it is quite frankly impossible for organizations to keep pace with the rate of change that technology is bringing without a solid identity foundation.

Add on that identity has historically been perceived as complex, with many organizations hiring a small army of dedicated professionals to keep their identity program up and running.

So, in true SailPoint fashion, we looked at the state of identity today and asked: is there a better way forward?

We live in an age of innovation where many complex things have been made simple, and that is where we stand today.

Early on when IGA was becoming a thing, it was thought to be something only afforded by complex organizations with significant regulatory compliance and security requirements; or large organizations with lots of user churn.

Today that could not be further from the truth.

Now, businesses must manage hundreds, if not thousands, of applications for sometimes hundreds of thousands of employees. In response to this widespread need to manage identity and manage it well, we took the complex and made it simple.

With the latest updates to the SailPoint Identity Platform and the new SailPoint Access Modeling service, we are doing just that. This new service simplifies the deployment and day-to-day management of a role-based identity governance program. This ensures that as users join or move within the organization, their access rights evolve with them – automatically and without the overhead of traditional approaches to access modeling.

The new SailPoint Access Modeling service will be available in March as a new cloud service on the SailPoint Identity Platform. The platform already includes AI-driven SailPoint Access Insights and SailPoint Recommendation Engine services. These services take humans out of the equation to speed important identity processes along that, under human power, suck up a lot of time and resources.

These capabilities evaluate access changes in real-time and provide AI-generated insights to help managers and administrators make informed decisions. The Recommendations service can also be used to deliver a completely autonomous experience, bypassing the need to for a human to be involved at all in granting or revoking access.

For example, SailPoint Access Insights service digs into identity data to provide deeper visibility and intelligence across users (human and non-human) and their access, flagging access that may pose a risk due to inappropriate or unnecessary access, for example. And the SailPoint Recommendations service acts like your AI sidekick, sorting through access changes in real-time and offering up recommendations for granting or revoking access.

When we launched AI & Machine Learning capabilities, we knew this was the direction the identity industry needed to take. We knew it was a game-changer. And today, we are stepping yet again into the future of identity.

But this is just the beginning. We’re continuing to innovate as we march towards the more seamless, predictive and autonomous world of identity that we’ve made possible with the SailPoint Identity Platform.
