Top 3 Takeaways as an Enterprise ISR

Identity and Core Values

I’m someone who thrives on change – I know you’re judging me but hear me out on this.

My career path consists of a diverse background in sales and leadership across industries – and although I was in technology sales prior to joining SailPoint, I didn’t have a background in Identity. I allowed myself to learn, unlearn and relearn – I refer to this as leveling-up.

I love this industry because you are part of something important – it’s necessary, it matters, and it’s at the core of every enterprise. You’ll cultivate meaningful relationships with clients and the extended partner ecosystem. You’ll be able to build upon these partnerships and work together to address the most significant, most complex Identity challenges that enterprises face today. You’ll be able to do it in a way that empowers organizations to look at Security through the lens of Identity.

To work for an organization built on a solid foundation of Core Values (The Four I’s) has been a gamechanger. I’ve learned that the alignment of personal and organizational values encourages you to maintain a strong sense of purpose. Meaningful work is about expressing your values and, more importantly, showing up as your authentic self.

Grow, Evolve and Do Good by Helping Others

My peers and leaders have met me with compassion, empathy, and courage – essential traits in our personal and professional lives. I’ve been given the autonomy to do things in the unique, creative ways that I think are best. Fast forward to a little over one year in my role – I still find myself evolving, challenging the norm, pushing boundaries, and asking ‘why not.’

A rewarding aspect for me has been that I’ve been able to pay it forward through peer mentoring. So much of business is about reciprocity and I believe that if you do good, it will come back to you.

It is no mistake that we’re the industry leader in the Identity space: the people who make up SailPoint are the reason why. What happens when incredibly talented individuals who are passionate, humble, and driven collaborate? We keep getting better, together.

A huge shoutout to Cloud 9 – excited to see what comes next for this wickedly intelligent team that I’m grateful to be a part of. To my guys: Jeff, Micah, and Adam – it wouldn’t be the same without you.

Stop and Sail-ebrate YOU (nautical pun intended)

Earlier in my career, I was in environments where I was made to feel that I was too passionate or needed to shrink myself to fit in (hard to do when you’re 5’9”, just saying). It has been refreshing to be a part of an organization that puts the human element first.

Planning, execution, and outcomes are essential – but it’s equally as important to be in a supportive environment where you can thrive. Your wins are celebrated, regardless of how small they may be. I’m fortunate to have some amazing people in my corner and build valuable relationships during my time here. Pro tip I’ve always followed: clap for yourself when you win.

Your definition of success will constantly evolve throughout your career, and that’s okay, it is a natural progression. Aim to be true to you and remember your ‘why’ – our power isin our individuality and uniqueness.

Thank You to Daniel Lyons, Matthew Perry, Mariah Finleon, Rob Mitchell & Laurie Evans – it’s a privilege to work with you. If you have an opportunity to work alongside these leaders, you’ll be a better person because of it.

Proud to be a part of the #SailPointCrew!
