The SailPoint Crew is nothing if not giving. We’ve rallied around many causes, from the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society, to Explore Austin, to Girlstart. Giving back is in our DNA, and this past weekend was a true testament to that fact.
For those of us who don’t run unless something is chasing us, Extra Life is the marathon for charity we’ve been searching for. Our team captain, Matthew Whittington, brought extra life to SailPoint for the first time in 2016. This year’s team, All for Naut, grew by double in both size and funds raised. By the final hours of our second annual Extra Life marathon, our crew raised more than $12,000 for Dell Children’s Hospital.
These are just a few of the reasons our crew is passionate about Extra Life.
For the Kids
I always loved gaming, always. After my daughter Emry ended up at Dell Children’s Hospital, I saw the care they provided for her and how comfortable they made it for us. I quickly realized I wanted to do anything I could to support the hospital, so now I can enjoy my passion for gaming and support the hospital for the things they do for the kids. That’s why I do it. – Matt Whittington, Sr. Test Engineer
For the Community
I love events that draw people together. I love events where you can have fun and help out in our community. I love events that showcase our awesome company to our friends and family. I love events that help our company feel like a family. This event does all these things. That is why I love this event. – Kiai Weidmann, Sr. Software Engineer
For the Love of Gaming
I’ve always loved playing games of all types, and being part of an event that lets me play a bunch of different games with different people that also helps kids is great. I love being able to show how amazing our company is, too. – Kelly Wrinkle, Test Engineer
I have always been a big nerd, and since I was 11 years old I have built computers and played games. Gaming is a huge passion of mine and this event applies it for good. Dell Children’s Hospital’s focus on child health has impacted several friends and knowing the money I raise can help them continue their work is very rewarding. It is also great to have the backing of SailPoint making the event an even bigger success. – Gianni Aiello, Sr. Manager, Product Management
We can’t wait for next year’s Extra Life marathon, and by the looks of it, we’re going to need a bigger room, more snacks and an even higher fundraising goal #forthekids!
